In providing support for education and research, the university library maintains a wide array of materials and services with the objective of assisting researchers and students in their academic work. Our collection presently includes some 410,000 books and well over 5,500 academic journal and other periodicals. Of these, approximately 280,000 books can be browsed on open stacks.
Electronic resource retrieval is available through the KIT Gakujutsu (Academic) Portal, a Japanese language website organized to enable quick navigation to database links for scholarly publications.
We offer an academic reference access network enabling database searches of, and borrowing from, other university libraries and research facility collections throughout Japan. The library also provides assistance to students with their studies; support to researchers seeking information and primary sources; and makes materials available to alumni, persons from outside the university, and the community at large.
Since FY 2014, when we set up a ‘Global Commons,’ a communal learning space specializing in multilingual and multicultural learning, where in-depth inquiry into, and play with knowledge are encouraged, we have been providing a range of high quality support for advanced academic activities at KIT.
