The Center for ICT Services (CIS), established in 1967 as the KIT “Computer Room,” serves as the backbone for the campus Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. It manages key systems such as the Information Infrastructure Computing System (SystemX) and the Core Information Network (KITnet).
In April 2025, the Center for Information Science became the Center for ICT Services, and was reorganized as the executive body of KIT’s information strategy promotion headquarters.
CIS is responsible for developing and maintaining the university’s information infrastructures and environment. It also focuses on ICT education and research, aiming to enhance educational and research activities while improving administrative efficiency.
The diverse activities of CIS include constructing, maintaining, and managing various information infrastructures and systems as well as the providing user support. CIS also plays a key role in ICT-related education, research, and support. Given the growing importance of information security, safeguarding university information has become a critical responsibility of the center.
