“KYOTO Thinking”

“KYOTO Thinking”

As the location of the 794 Heian Capital civilization, Kyoto shaped Japanese culture and politics for centuries. It embodied the height of Japanese culture rooted in craftsmanship, technical excellence, and trust-based relationships. For centuries, Kyoto’s people have valued refinement in every aspect of life—from food, utensils, and crafts to the arts of tea, flower arrangement, Noh, dance, and festivals.
At the same time, Kyoto has continually embraced innovation—preserving tradition while daring to create new value. This pioneering spirit of creativity and innovation have earned global recognition and driven ongoing cultural and technological evolution.
We refer to this blend of ingenuity and openness to creative challenge as “KYOTO Thinking.”
Located in this historic yet forward-looking city, we at KIT integrate “KYOTO Thinking” into our education and research, cultivating graduates capable of envisioning and shaping the future of both Japan and the world.
