【イタリア、スロベニアの連携大学とのサマースクール2025】
「JoinTECH Laboratoryプログラム」では、ヨーロッパの連携大学と本学教員の強固な関係に基づき、双方の研究室に所属する各学生の専門性に合致した留学と交流を、
①ラボにおける海外協働の土台作り（JoinTECH-Online）
②ラボ活動等を体験する短期間の交流（JoinTECH-Visit）
③論文執筆等の科学的成果につながる中長期間の交流（JoinTECH-Lab）
の3段階実施しています。
2025年9月に、第2段階部分にあたる「JoinTECH-Visit」として、イタリアおよびスロベニアの協定校から6名の学生を本学に迎え、2週間のサマースクールを実施しました。
プログラムは、本学材料化学系のElia Marin准教授の指導のもとに企画?運営され、ウーディネ大学のAlex Lanzutti准教授による冶金工学に関する特別講義をはじめとする専門的な講義が行われました。講義のほかにも、名古屋にある大同特殊鋼株式会社の本社を訪問したほか、日本の伝統的な金継ぎ技法（漆と金粉を用いて陶磁器を修復する技術）を体験する文化実習も体験しました。
最終日には、成果報告会を開催し、お招きしたイタリア大使館?科学技術部のSerianni Gianluigi博士、在日イタリア人研究者協会副会長のBarbieri Ettore教授、ウーディネ大学のStefano Miani教授から講評をいただきました。
今回のサマースクールは、参加学生にとって、専門知識を深めるとともに、日本文化に触れ、今後、本学でのより長期の留学に向けた具体的なイメージをつかむ貴重な機会となりました。
【Summer School 2025 at KIT: Welcoming Students from Italy and Slovenia】
The “JoinTECH Laboratory Program” builds on the strong relationship with the partner university and among the faculty members, and conducts study abroad and exchange in the following three phases, matching the expertise of each student in the respective laboratories.:
1. JoinTECH-Online – Building the foundation for international collaboration in laboratories
2. JoinTECH-Visit – Short-term exchange programs that allow students to experience laboratory activities
3. JoinTECH-Lab – Medium to long-term research exchanges aiming at scientific results as theses, etc.
In September 2025, as part of the second stage, JoinTECH-Visit, KIT hosted a two-week Summer School, welcoming six students from partner universities in Italy and Slovenia.
The program was organized and conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Elia Marin from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, and featured specialized lectures including one on metallurgical engineering by Assoc. Prof. Alex Lanzutti of the University of Udine. In addition to lectures, participants visited the headquarters of Daido Steel Co., Ltd. in Nagoya and took part in a cultural workshop on Kintsugi—a traditional Japanese technique for repairing ceramics using lacquer and gold powder.
On the final day, a results presentation was held, attended by invited guest, Dr. Serianni Gianluigi (Scientific and Technological Attaché, Italian Embassy in Tokyo), Prof. Barbieri Ettore (Vice President, Association of Italian Researchers in Japan “AIRJ”), and Prof. Stefano Miani (University of Udine), who provided their comments and feedback.
This Summer School provided participating students with a valuable opportunity to deepen their academic expertise, experience Japanese culture, and gain a concrete vision for pursuing longer-term study at KIT in the future.
